Points
Your driving licence can carry up to 12 points. In the event of a breach of the Highway Code (a fine or misdemeanour, depending on the severity of the offence) or if you are responsible for an accident involving personal injury, points will be deducted.
You can check how many points you have online at tele7.interieur.gouv.fr or telepoints.info (direct link)
There are two ways to log in:
- a FranceConnect username
- your file number (the number on your licence) and your secure confidential code.
If you do not have your confidential code, you can use FranceConnect.
If you do not have a FranceConnect username and you do not know your confidential code (which appears on the letter accompanying your "new format" secure licence or on a letter informing you that points have been taken off), you can request it by going to: https://www.telepoints.info/demande-code-acces.html.
You will be asked to complete an application form, which you will send to the prefecture. Your confidential code will be sent to you by post.

If an error is found when you check your driving licence points, you should contact the Préfecture for where you live to check your file.
Please consult their website to find out how they receive guests before visiting their premises.
If the course was completed before receipt of the letter saying they had 0 points, the course is valid. However, the decision as to whether or not to process the application rests with the relevant department.
