  1. 1

    Prepare the required documents

    Here are the documents you will need to provide during your application:

    • A proof of identity (national identity card, passport, etc)
      • For French nationals with a digital identity, the single-use photo ID generated during the process from the France Identité application is accepted.
    • A proof of address less than six months old
    • A passport-size photo less than six months old (in paper or digital format) . 
      • If you wish to send this photo in paper format: Download and send in the photo-signature submission form  (available at the end of your application).  Any envelope containing the photo signature form without sufficient postage will not be processed and the envelope will be destroyed.
      • If you use an e-photo code: this code is only valid once
    • The military driving licence
    • A medical opinion from an approved doctor if required

    Information

    To know whether you need to undergo a medical examination by an approved doctor or a medical board following the invalidation/cancellation/suspension of your driving licence, you will need to contact the prefecture where you live by e-mail.
    Only the prefecture is authorised to give you this information.

    Start your application

    • Choose the reason " Je demande la fabrication d’un titre de permis de conduire " (I ask for the manufacture of a driving licence)
    • Complete your situation :
      • majeure, mineure émancipée ou mineure (adults/minors)
      • if a medical opinion is required
    • Select the reason of your application "Conversion de brevet militaire" (Convert a military licence)
    • Click on "Valider définitivement ma situation" (Definitively confirm my situation)

    Add your personal details

    • Fill in your marital status
    • Fill in your postal address
    • Add your contat details

    Add your photo and signature

    There are two ways to provide your photo and signature:

    • Use an e-photo code (digitised photo + signature) obtained from an authorised photographer
    • Mail your passport-size photo and the submission form available at the end of the process

    Add your documents

    • For French nationals with a digital identity, the single-use photo ID generated during the process from the France Identité application is accepted.

    Confirm the summary of the application

    Information

    If you are not using an e-photo code, you will need to download the ‘Photo Signature Submission Form’ available at the end of the process.
    This form must be returned by post with your passport photo.

    Please note that any envelope containing the photo signature form that is not sufficiently stamped will not be processed and will be destroyed.

    Information

    A receipt is issued for the application.

    While awaiting receipt of the new driving licence, it is possible to continue driving military vehicles. However, to drive a civilian vehicle, it is necessary to wait until the civilian driving licence has been received.
